Zac Efron may have first rocketed to fame on the back of the Disney's beloved High School Musical series but aside from belting out a couple of tunes in the film adaption of Broadway classic Hairspray, he's largely stuck to straight acting since then.

It's a bit of a shame really because, as much as we all love seeing Zac taking his top off (since that's like 95% of what he does in movies these days) he's a really, really great singer plus he can dance with the best of them. Basically, Zac Efron is low-key one of the most talented musical actors in the world right now and it's a shame we don't get to see him live up to his potential more often.

However, all that could be about to change as Zac is set to return to the world of musicals with a role in Fox's new musical The Greatest Showman On Earth opposite Hugh Jackman. The musical will be about the story of P.T. Barnum (played by Jackman) the famous circus entrepreneur behind the traveling Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Apparently Zac has been cast to play a rich young theatre producers who goes on to become Barnum's apprentice and best friend. And yes, the role has been confirmed to include singing and dancing.

It was also revealed today by Deadline Hollywood that Disney star and soon-to-be Spiderman: Homecoming actor Zendaya is in talks to play Zac's love-interest, a trapeze artist who steals his heart! Allegedly Michelle Williams is also in talks to appear in the movie.

Basically, this film sounds like one of the most spectacular movie musicals to hit our screens and we absolutely can't wait to see what they do with it and, of course, to have Zac Efron's creamy vocals roll over us like waves on a tropical beach... ahhhh.
