Warning: Contains spoilers...

Yesterday we finally got the long-awaited new season of Game of Thrones, which was full of the betrayals, action and emotional reunions we'd been hoping for, with the women of Westeros calling the shots. Now a teaser for the eighth season's second episode has been revealed, and it looks just as action-packed as Monday's offering.

The trailer shows Jaime Lannister finally having to confront the consequences of his actions: not just chucking Bran Stark out of a window, but also coming face to face with Daenerys Targaryen, whose father he stabbed in the back.

In the trailer, the Dragon Queen is seen telling the Kingslayer: "When I was a child, my brother would tell me a bedtime story about the man who murdered our father and all the things we would do to that man."

However, we also hear Sansa Stark and Daenerys telling each other how they never should have trusted Cersei Lannister.

From this, can we assume that Jaime rode to Winterfell to tell the Starks of Cersei's deception at the end of season seven? We can only imagine how the ever-menacing Cersei would react to such a betrayal (clue: definitely not well).

It also looks like Arya Stark is about to tick another name off her kill list, as she menacingly arches a bow and arrow later on in the trailer.

Most importantly, perhaps, it looks like next episode might give us the beginnings of the biggest battle in the history of Game of Thrones, and indeed of television history.

We've long been promised that the final season will give us the largest television battle of all time, and from the short trailer, it looks like the seeds are being sown for this historic occasion, which is rumoured to be taking place in episode three.

In the trailer, Jon Snow asks Tormund Giantsbane: "How long do we have?" to which the wildling replies: "Before the sun comes up tomorrow." It shouldn't be long before the Night King and Jon lock horns in the much-anticipated hour-long battle, then.

Only a few more sleeps to go...

The final series of Game of Thrones airs on Mondays at 2am and 9pm exclusively on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW TV in the UK and Ireland.
