BAFTA Viewers 'Fuming' As Jennifer Lawrence 'Throws Shade' At Joanna Lumley
The BAFTAs kicked off on Sunday evening, with national treasure Joanna Lumley opening the entire prestigious awards ceremony in front of the nation.
But viewers at home were left fuming after Jennifer Lawrence reportedly 'shaded' the host, ahead of her presenting the Best British Film gong.
71-year-old Joanna welcome the actress onto the stage with a gushing introduction, but it didn't go down too well with Jennifer...
While her dry tone was presumably just a joke, BAFTA viewers weren't having any of it, and they took to Twitter to blast her words.
"Never liked Jennifer Lawrence. (Joan Rivers was right when she nicknamed her 'Miss Arrogance") and she was so rude to Joanna Lumley last night. I think Joanna meant hottest as in most in demand not in looks. Either way, Jennifer came off as a stuck up brat," slammed one person.
As somebody else declared: "Jennifer Lawrence was rude to Joanna Lumley who the F*CK does she think she is. This is the last straw!"
"Did Jennifer Lawrence shade off Joanna Lumley when Lumley said J-Law was "hottest"?" questioned a third.
While a final exclaimed: "That was a little bit mean when Jennifer Lawrence said in a non-joking way "that's a bit much" about her intro from Lummers. Joanna is just trying to be fabulous. Is that hard to go with it or not address it at all? #meangirl #EEBAFTAs."
I really like Jennifer Lawrence and I understand her weird humour cause I share that with her, but attacking Joanna Lumley :joy: was kinda weird and rude tbh :joy::joy::sob: #EEBAFTAs #JoannaLumley #JenniferLawrence pic.twitter.com/QE37GxL5ah- harvey (@harvey_____) February 18, 2018
Some defended The Hunger Games actress' words as just a joke, though.
