A trailer for new horror movie Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark just dropped, and it will make your childhood nightmares a reality.

Teasers for the forthcoming flick were released during the 2019 Super Bowl weekend, but now the first full trailer for Guillermo del Tori André Øvredal's latest production is here.

And if your motto is 'the scarier, the better' then it looks like this movie will fulfil your wishes.

Based on popular folklore and urban myths, the film is made up of four separate shorts The Pale Lady, Jangle Man, Red Spot and Big Toe, with the trailer touching base on all of them.

The most terrifying part of the trailer is arguably Red Spot, a woman who has spiders living inside of her - enough to make anyone shudder. As she leans into the mirror to squeeze a spot on her face, a spider leg is seen poking through.

Scary Movies To Tell In The Dark is set in 1968 America where "a young girl with horrible secrets," Sarah, writes a book full of horrifying stories.

As the official synopsis puts it best: "It's 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind...but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large."

The synopsis adds: "It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time-stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah's terrifying home."

The story is adapted by Alvin Schwartz's iconic anthology series of the same name, and the movie is being slated for cinema premiere on 9th August.
