We all love Tom Hardy, that's just a fact. And frankly, we'd watch whatever any movie if he wasn't going to feature in it.
Of course, we don't think that Star Wars Episode VIII will need too much help from Tom's legion of fans (what with The Force Awakens being the highest grossing movie of all time) but it'll be nice to know that Tom is potentially appearing in the franchise!
While we still don't have any official confirmation that Tom is definitely taking part in the latest episode of the galaxy-spanning space opera, he definitely gave more than a bit of a hint at his involvement in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. After being asked about the rumours that he'd be appearing in the film, Tom explained:
I don't know if I can even say that. Where did you hear that?
After his interviewer admitted that she'd read the rumour on the internet, Tom replied:
Ah, the internet is a glorious web of deceit and misinformation, isn't it?
Ultimately though, Tom refused to give a decisive, definite 'no' answer, which these days, almost always means 'yes'. So yeah, basically, Tom Hardy is probably going to be in Star Wars Episode VIII.
Unfortunately though, you more than likely won't see his face. All the online gossip suggests he'll be playing an unnamed stormtrooper just like Daniel Craig did in The Force Awakens and, like the former, he won't actually take his helmet off.
The rumours suggest that Tom Hardy's stormtrooper will run into John Boyega's character, Finn. It'll turn out that the two of them were former allies and Tom's character will believe that Finn is acting as a double-agent for the First Order and will congratulate Finn on his work, not realising that he's gone over to the light side. Awkward.
Either way, we're excited! Because, y'know, why wouldn't you be? It's Tom Hardy!
