A hidden clue in The Haunting Of Hill House hints that the Netflix original series could have a much darker ending than fans may have first thought. Just a word of warning, there's some serious season one spoilers ahead.
Oliver Jackson-Cohen, who plays drug addict Luke Crain in the series, revealed that the finale could be hiding another dark Easter egg, which nobody has picked up on until now.
Director Mike Flanagan took viewers through a terrifying tale of two timelines. In one, a family lived in the historically haunted house. And in the other, the grown-up siblings returned to their former home to confront their past.
Spanning over 10 episodes, the siblings became trapped in the house's Red Room and their father Hugh (Timothy Hutton) negotiated with their ghost mother Olivia (Carla Gugino) to save their lives in exchange for his own.

The kids were ultimately freed from the Red Room, but actor Oliver has suggested fans shouldn't take the finale at face value.
"There's this thing that happens when we're all in the Red Room," he told The Wrap.
"Whenever each child, each sibling, is in the Red Room, something in the fantasy is red. And it'll be a very, very small thing."
Oliver went on to point out examples, like the fact that Luke's Converse trainers turn red, and Steven wears a red jumper in their fantasies.

He continued: "And so there's something at the end - it was Kate [Siegel], who plays Theo, who kind of pointed it out to me - with Luke's sobriety cake.
"She went, 'The cake is red.' And on set I went, 'Oh, my God!' And she went, 'I don't know!' And I asked Mike [Flanagan], and he went 'I don't know.' And so I can't tell whether or not I'm just crazy with this - or whether or not it's something that could have legs."
Whether the Crain siblings are still stuck in the Red Room remains to be seen, but rumours have been circulating suggested a second series could be happening.

Having said that, director Mike previously hinted that if the series did return to Netflix for a second time, it might not be with the original cast.
