Two characters from Netflix's hilarious new sex comedy Sex Education are dating in real life, it has been revealed.

Connor Swindells (who plays Adam Groff) and Aimee Lou Wood (who plays Aimee Gibbs) have shared some adorable loved up snaps on their Instagram pages confirming their pairing.

On the show, which first aired on the streaming service on Friday, 11th January, the couple play two teens who are going through a rough patch in their relationship. But, in real life, it seems things are actually going very well.

"You've been a warrior king forever in the hundreds of lives you have already lived but now you're my [king]," Aimee wrote on Instagram. "AND I DONT GIVE A F IF ANYONE THINKS THAT IS CRINGEY cuz I'm trying to be as brave as u are. I'm owning my narrative... Not going to say any more because I feel vulnerable but YOU KNOW THE REST."

In another Instagram post, Aimee, from Manchester, shared some hilarious snaps of the couple dressing up for Halloween, including as Kathy and Richard - Chandler and Monica's exes - from Friends.

Meanwhile, Connor, 22, posted a black-and-white New Year's Day pic with his girlfriend, writing: "Lots of love from Aimee Gibbs and Adam Groff. Happy New Year kids x."

Before joining Sex Education, Aimee, who graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, appeared in a number of theatre productions and Connor, a model and former boxer, appeared in the Sky One drama Jamestown and starred alongside Gerard Butler in the film The Vanishing.

The Gillian Anderson-fronted series Sex Education, created by Laurie Nunn, tells the story of Otis Milburn as he hilariously makes his way through the minefield that is teenage sexuality.

The series, which is eight episodes long, also stars Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa and Kedar Williams-Stirling.

Here's the synopsis from Netflix: "Meet Otis Milburn - an inexperienced, socially awkward high school student who lives with his mother, a sex therapist. Surrounded by manuals, videos and tediously open conversations about sex, Otis is a reluctant expert on the subject.

"When his home life is revealed at school, Otis realizes that he can use his specialist knowledge to gain status. He teams up with Maeve, a whip-smart bad-girl, and together they set up an underground sex therapy clinic to deal with their fellow students' weird and wonderful problems.

"Through his analysis of teenage sexuality, Otis realises he may need some therapy of his own."
