The Tiger Who Came To Tea is being made into an animated television show to bring your favourite childhood book to life.

It means that you can share a story you loved so much when you were younger with the little ones in your life.

Channel 4 revealed the plans for an adaptation of Judith Kerr's well-loved children's book.

Just to make the 30 minute adaptation even more magical it will be aired around Christmas so it is the perfect excuse to cuddle up with the little ones with a hot chocolate.

Ruth Fielding, producer and co-founder of Lupus Films, said: "We are delighted to be creating a new animated film for Channel 4 using our unique hand-drawn style.

"This timeless tale, with huge cross-generational appeal, is the perfect literary classic to adapt for a seasonal special when the whole family can come together to watch it.

"We cannot wait to bring Judith's delightful illustrations to life in animation and have assembled an exceptional team to do so."

Caroline Hollick, Channel 4 Head of Drama added: "The Tiger who came to Tea was one of my favourite books as a child, and I loved reading it to my own children when they were small.

The 1968 book has sold 5 million copies since it's release and is a staple in everyone's childhood.

If you by some chance haven't read the book it tells the story of a tiger who turns up unannounced at Sophie's house and eats everything in her and her mum's house.

She recently received an Oldie Of The Year award and spoke to the audience about where her idea for the book came from.

Judith said: "The Tiger Who Came To Tea is a story I made up for my two-year-old daughter, who was very bossy.

"So when she and her brother were both at school I thought I'd try to make it into a picture book."

"I used to tell her all sorts of other stories as well, which I thought were perfectly good, which she dismissed with the words 'Talk the Tiger'."
