The latest trailer for the upcoming His Dark Materials production has finally been released, and it looks as if it'll be a joyride for fantasy lovers.
Based on the best-selling book trilogy by Philip Pullman, the BBC and HBO's joint project revisits the story of Lyra Belacqua, a young girl who goes on a and magical adventure through parallel universes.
Lyra's mission is to find her kidnapped friend, but she gets caught up in the plot of a sinister organisation kidnapping children.

This is just the latest glimpse we've seen of the all-star production, after the first trailer dropped in May. It comes 12 years after the release of another movie adaptation of the hit series, which starred Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig.
As in the books, along the way Lyra encounters mystical creatures, both good and evil, such as Bear King, Iofur Raknison, an enormous armed polar bear.
The adaptation is based on the first book in the trilogy, Northern Lights, released in 1995, which surely leaves room for follow-up series based on the sequels The Subtle Knife (1997), and The Amber Spyglass (2000). In fact, it's thought a second series has already been penned.

The series features a stellar cast including Dafne Keen of Logan as Lyra, James McAvoy (Dark Phoenix) as Lord Asriel, Ruth Wilson (Luther) as the evil Mrs. Coulter, and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Mary Poppins Returns) as Lee Scoresby.
Jack Thorne of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child is responsible for the screenplay, while The King's Speech's Tom Hooper is taking on directing duties.

As filming began, screenwriter Jack Thorne said: "His Dark Materials are the most beautiful set of books, taking us into a world of constant imagination.
"Reading them I was a massive fan, in adapting them I've increasingly felt in awe of them. It's the constant invention, the way the story never sits still, and that the characters constantly surprise you.
"It's been a joy being part of a creative team for this; from Tom's incredible analytic mind and amazing eye, to Joel's beautiful world building, to everyone else involved. And then there's the cast, which has proved to be the cast of dreams, we are so lucky to have been able to entice them in."

The eight-part series doesn't yet have a release date, but there's hopes it'll hit screens in 2019. It will be on the BBC in the UK and HBO in the US. Excited!
