Channel 4 Deputy Director of Programmes Kelly Webb-Lamb said: "It was a genuine risk to take on such an innovative new reality format, but The Circle absolutely struck a chord with young viewers who were utterly gripped by the drama and relationships that unfolded on screen - even though the players never met.
"The second series will have more of what the viewers loved - warmth, humour, more live elements and even more surprises. I'm excited to see how it will build on the success of series one."

Studio Lambert creative director Tim Harcourt added: "We were blown away by the love on social media for our entertaining cast and the nightly drama of the show.
"This year we have some thrilling twists and turns in both our casting and the gameplay. We will also have a weekly live show that offers our audience more chance to engage and make a big impact on the narrative."
The Circle follows a group of contestants who all move into separate apartments within the same building.

The catch is that the contests never actually meet in person - they simply communicate through a simulated social media platform which allows them to build whatever persona they like.
Players must try and win the affections of their competitors and avoid getting 'blocked' to be in with the chance of winning £50,000.
If a player is blocked, the other players will discover whether that person was really who they said they were, or whether they were getting catfished all along.

The first series was won by Alex Hobern (under his persona of Kate) after receiving the highest points from his fellow players, bagging him the £50k prize fund.
As if that wasn't enough, Alex also won an additional £35k after being voted the viewers' favourite player.
