Two The Chase contestants manged to break records and make history when they both made £10,000 each in the cash builder round.

If you're unsure what the cash builder round actually is it is the round before the contestants complete their one-to-one with the Chaser.

Host Bradley Walsh asks the contestants a series of questions in the space of one minute, most contestants usually reach around £3,000 to £5,000 but not last night. Two players consecutively won £10,000 something which even one contestant has never achieved.

Contestants Michael and Ross both answered 10 questions correctly in the cash builder and added £20,000 to the prize pot.

A third contestant brought back £5,000, and the team won the final chase so the three split the total prize money of £25,000 between themselves.

Michael was the first to break the record and after Ross managed to bring home the same amount, Bradley Walsh said: "I don't remember that happening - ever! First two out of the traps, 10 each..."

Ross then followed in his footsteps. (

Chaser Paul Sinha was also pretty impressed with the contestants although we can also imagine it made him pretty nervous about the final chase.

The Sinnerman added: "I can't speak for any of the other Chasers but that's definitely the first time two players have got two or more."

Viewers were also pretty impressed with the team's effort. One Twitter user wrote: "First two players, £10 grand each. Wow."

A second added: "F*ck me 20 questions right in the first 2 cash builders. What a team Brad's building."

"Best team I've ever seen on #TheChase", commented another viewer.

Contestant Ross also took to Twitter this morning to thank fans for their kind messages. He wrote: My TV debut on @ITVChase Thanks for having me, was so much fun!!"

The Chase recently won Best Quiz Show at the National Television Award's which is no surprise to be honest.

They beat the likes of Pointless, Catchphrase, A League of Their Own and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
