ITV's The Chase has been branded a 'fix' by viewers after The Beast won, despite running out of time.

Contestants Graham, Patricia and Marian lost their £30,000 prize fund when Mark 'The Beast' Labbett answered the last question just as the countdown clock hit zero.

The Beast had two questions left to answer in order to win, when the timer had just six seconds left.

Host Bradley Walsh began asking the final question, only to be cut off half way through as The Beast correctly shouted 'Switzerland' just as the clock ran out.

When Bradley announced that the contestants had been caught, furious fans took to Twitter to brand the quiz show a 'fix'.

One viewer fumed: "ITV - congratulations for landing yourselves in hot water by not awarding 30K to the team for beating the chaser at the wire.

"Clock had run done before answer given. Trust you will do the decent thing and review the decision!"

Another questioned: "How wrong today, The Beast hadn't finished answering the question yet they let him have it?

"When Bradley is asking questions, if they haven't finished answering before the time runs out they're not given it!! What a fix."

"The Chase is a fix!!!!" a third raged. "The countdown was over but apparently he got the answer on time! If it was the other way round the guests wouldn't have been in time. ITV sort it out!"

The Chase continues on ITV tonight at 5pm.
