Master of horror stories Stephen King has heaped on the praise for Netflix's new spooky series, Haunting Of Hill House.
The American author, who has penned tales such as It, The Shining and Pet Sematary, took to Twitter to call the horror series 'close to the work of a genius' - high praise from someone who has become an icon of the genre.
The Haunting Of Hill House was released earlier this month, and is based on the 1959 novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson.

Described as a slow-building horror, Mike Flanagan's adaptation follows five siblings who grew up in the famously spooky abode, and they are forced to return to the mansion and relive their nightmare all over again.
Writing to his almost 5 million Twitter followers on Wednesday, Stephen shared: "THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE, revised and remodeled by Mike Flanagan. I don't usually care for this kind of revisionism, but this is great.
"Close to a work of genius, really. I think Shirley Jackson would approve, but who knows for sure."
Shirley passed away in 1965 just six years after writing the book, and it's already been adapted for the big screen with two different flicks in 1963 and 1999, with the latter starring Catherine Zeta Jones.

Before it dropped on Netflix earlier this month, the 10-part series received a 100 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and viewers are raving about just how scary it is now it's available to stream on the subscription service.
The Haunting of Hill House stars Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Timothy Hutton, Elizabeth Reaser, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Henry Thomas, and Kate Siegel.
Victoria Pedretti, Lulu Wilson, Mckenna Grace, Paxton Singleton, Violet McGraw, and Julian Hilliard all appear in the Netflix series too.
A second season could potentially be on the way too, as Michiel hinted that 'anything could happen' during a recent interview.
