Someone's Spotted Major Similarities Between 'Game Of Thrones' And 'Shrek' And They're Uncanny

A Twitter user pointed them all out and we can't unsee it.

After Game of Thrones finally drew to an end last Sunday, a lot of people have been left feeling downright disappointed. The finale just didn't do the show justice according to a lot of the diehards, and the discussion over whether the Mad Queen was the right end for Daenerys rages on.

There is one thing that everyone (maybe) can agree with, though. One Twitter user has pointed out all of the similarities between Game of Thrones and everyone's other favourite fantasy franchise - that's right, Shrek.

One Twitter user and Game of Thrones megafan (@ohmytargaryen) posted a side by side of a few scenes from GoT by ones from Shrek and said "So basically Game of Thrones is a Shrek live action".

And, don't worry, they followed up with a ton more helpful examples, as did followers and fellow fans. The tweet quickly took off with over 47,000 retweets, and people are adding more evidence by the second.

After all of the stress of that final season, it can't really hurt to have a laugh about it. Tweets compared the gingerbread man to Bran (heh), Puss in Boots to Arya, and of course pointed out the dragons present in both Game of Thrones and Shrek

Really keen fans are also hoping for a crossover spinoff. With Arya Stark leaving Westeros and heading to find out "what's west of Westeros", maybe she'll run into a giant ogre and all of his mates. With the way spinoff and reboot culture is heading, it actually doesn't seem so far-fetched that with enough fans behind it, a crossover event could happen.

And they called the Marvel Cinematic Universe the most ambitious crossover event in history...this really has to be it, surely?

Although before anyone can pull that off, maybe we'll wait and see the results of the petition to have a ocmplete do-over of the entire final season of Game of Thrones. We'll see.
