Netflix's latest psychological thriller series titled You gripped viewers, and now there's already discussions surrounding a *third* season despite the first only landing on the streaming giant on Boxing Day.

A second season has already been confirmed but while filming hasn't even begun for that producers have said that they are thinking of ideas for a third series.

Speaking about the possibility of a third season, co-creator and executive producer Sera Gamble has said it it all depends on whether viewers enjoy the second series.

She told Cosmopolitan: "Absolutely it could come back for season three.

"First of all, it's up to the powers that be. We hope that a lot of people will watch the show and that it gets to continue.

"I will say that we have an idea for season three that is SO exciting that people talk about it in the [writer's] room everyday. So my fingers are crossed... I'll just say, I hope we get the chance to keep making the show."

Series one saw Penn Badgley's character Joe Goldberg turn into the ultimate stalker.

Joe is managing a bookstore in downtown New York when he meets Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), who he becomes wildly obsessed with.

He then proceeds to stalk her, but we're not giving the whole storyline away just in case you're part of the one per cent of the population who hasn't watched it yet.

Sera has already said that the second series of the show will be based on the second part of Caroline Kepnes' two-novel series called Hidden Bodies.

She has mentioned how Joe's past could come back to haunt him. Sera said: "Part of the fun of continuing the story is that the loose ends from Joe's past are still dangling and could come back to him at anytime.

"He is very worried about the fact that Peach Salinger's family has hired people to investigate her alleged suicide, and there is evidence potentially still at her house from season one.

"If you look at every act of violence that he does in season one, that is potentially something that could come back and bite him. And Dr. Nicky is in prison and he is ardently protesting his innocence."

She added: "It's too soon to say definitely whether John Stamos will return in season two, but we have been talking a lot about the character and we're excited to keep telling that story."
