Rami Malek To Star Opposite Denzel Washington In New Crime Thriller 'The Little Things'

Rami Malek is set to star alongside Denzel Washington in a new crime thriller called The Little Things - and it sounds like a nail-biter.

The 38-year-old has been in demand ever since he picked up the Oscar for 'Best Actor' at this year's Academy Awards and is now said to be in "early talks" to appear in the detective flick.

According to Deadline, the Mr Robot actor is being lined up to play a young hotshot detective, who teams up with a "burned-out" deputy sheriff, played by Washington, on the hunt for a serial killer.

Although Denzel's character has a knack for "the little things" that piece the clues together, he has a "willingness to cut corners" and a lot of "baggage" which irks his new partner.

The Little Things is written by The Blind Side's John Lee Hanock, who will also direct the flick, and will be produced by Mark Johnson.

The crime thriller is set to begin production in early September, according Deadline.

The casting news comes less than a month after it was announced that Rami had signed onto Bond 25 to play the newest 007 villain opposite Daniel Craig.

At the time, the news was streamed to the world from the film's official launch in Jamaica, where all 13 of Ian Fleming's original Bond novels were written.

Unable to make the live launch, Rami said in a pre-recorded message from New York that he wouldn't be letting Bond have an easy ride.

Speaking on Good Morning America immediately after the big reveal, Malek said: "It's thrilling.

"It's something so many generations have grown up with and you watch it with one of your parents, and then you just keep watching one right after the other. They're timeless movies.

"This is such a perfect follow-up I think to Bohemian Rhapsody. You know, going from one iconic Brit to an iconic British franchise."

When asked if he had taken inspiration from any other Bond villains, he shared: "I've liked them all.

"I thought Javier Bardem did such a good job in Skyfall and Christoph Waltz - all of them have just been indelible."

2019 is shaping up to be the year of Rami and we're here for it.
