You may have heard of the fan theory that Breaking Bad is a prequel to The Walking Dead. Well now it looks like the latter has confirmed it.
In the most recent Fear The Walking Dead episode, there was a nod to Breaking Bad. Did you spot it? Here, have a look...

So as you can see, when Madison (played by Kim Dickens) and Qaletaqa (Michael Greyeyes) go into the market, Negro y Azul: The Ballad of Heisenberg is playing in the background. Yup, the same one from season two of Breaking Bad.
Speaking to Digital Spy, showrunner Dave Erickson said: "I tried to be subtle with it,
"That was probably the moment when I fell the most deeply in love with Breaking Bad, when they did that cold open music video.
"As we were looking for pieces to incorporate into this world, it had the right vibe to it. It's a gentle nod of admiration and adoration to [Breaking Bad creator] Vince Gilligan."
I know what you're thinking, 'what the hell?! Is this serious?!'. Yeah, I get you. It's almost like trying to cram together any two incredibly popular TV shows in a vain attempt to make them fit so we can all pretend that producers are all in on something together.
In fact, here's some television and movies I believe are connected:
- Game of Thrones and Friends
Monica and Ross had a bit of incest once when they kissed/Cersei and Jaime Lannister had sex A LOT. Maybe they're the great-great-great grandparents of Ross and Monica? WHO KNOWS?!
- The Big Bang Theory and World War Z
Both equally terrible - coincidence?! Hmm, okay. Well, how about Sheldon having sex with Amy and causing his mind to deteriorate to a point where he wasn't smart anymore. He was distracted, not quite himself. Eventually, he was helping Amy with her monkey studies but inadvertently mixed two different chemicals together which turned into a virus. The monkeys escaped, infecting the world with zombies and Brad Pitt had to save the world
- Two Broke Girls and Dexter -
After watching both of these, I was filled with a murderous rage. For different reasons.
The thing is, it's kind of weirdly convincing. Even Netflix has made a video to highlight the theory.
Maybe I'm just swayed by the beautiful design of this video, I don't know. But this is incredible

So, the theory is split into four parts.
1) Blue Meth
In episode two of The Walking Dead, we see Merle's hidden stash of drugs, which just so happens to look exactly like blue sky meth. As fans of Breaking Bad will know, this is the unique drug that turned Walter White into Heisenberg.
2) The Dodge
So when you think of the red Dodge with black racing stripes, you probably think of Breaking Bad (specifically season four, episode two) when Heisenberg buys it for Walt Jr. due to its distinctive nature. Get this, it's also in The Walking Dead in the second episode when Glenn steals it.
However, that's not the only connection. When Heisenberg returns the car after having a fight with Skylar... he returns it to an employee named Glenn.
Rather than paying the $700 'restocking fee', he blows up the car. Well, maybe the employee from Breaking Bad managed to survive the zombie outbreak and become Glenn from The Walking Dead?
The video goes on to suggest that maybe he never got over the look of defeat on Walt's face. And when we see Glenn celebrating in the Dodge in The Walking Dead, maybe he's not just celebrating escaping zombies, maybe he's also loving that he has come full-circle from his days as a salesman to actually driving the motor of his dreams.
3) The B*tch Connection
Daryl discusses Merle's ex-drug dealer. He describes him as 'this janky little white guy' and then quotes him by saying 'I'm going to kill you, b*tch!'. Wait, is that Jesse Pinkman? That would explain how Merle got his hands on a bag of blue sky meth...
4) Gus Fring
This one is not so convincing. But stay with me. He literally exits the show by 'walking dead'... Yeah, this is a bit of a stretch but wait. Walter's production got more risky as he hung out with Gus. Could he have taken some zombie-inducing blue sky meth just before his death? Was he the first zombie?
Okay, so it's not the most convincing thing in the world. However, there's no smoke without fire. The whole 'blue sky meth' thing is particularly interesting, and the fact Daryl seems to be describing Jesse. Maybe the director decided to mess with people's heads a bit? Why not?
What do you reckon?
Well while we're mulling that over, let's take a look at the trailer for the new season of The Walking Dead which is due to premiere late this October, which is pretty bloody exciting.
Bloody being the operative word after last season's absolute bloodbath.
Watch out for the last 15 seconds, it's really messing with people's minds...

What does that mean? Has the whole series been one big dream? It looks like Rick has managed to live to an old age, but has he actually been out and about or has he just been getting old while in a coma?
Surely, the writers have more sense than to end it with: "And it was all a dream. The end." Imagine how p*ssed off the fans would be...
Anyway, they've released an accompanying statement with the teaser trailer, which reads: "Last season, Rick Grimes and his group of survivors were confronted with their deadliest challenge yet. With the comfort of Alexandria, they let their guard down, only to be reminded how brutal the world they live in can be.
"Feeling powerless under Negan's rules and demands, Rick advocated the group play along. But seeing that Negan couldn't be reasoned with, Rick began rallying together other communities affected by the Saviors. And with the support of the Hilltop and Kingdom, they finally have enough fire power to contest the Saviors."
It continues: "This season, Rick brings 'All Out War' to Negan and his forces. The Saviors are larger, better-equipped, and ruthless - but Rick and the unified communities are fighting for the promise of a brighter future. The battle lines are drawn as they launch into a kinetic, action-packed offensive.
"Up until now, survival has been the focus of Rick and our group, but it's not enough. They have to fight to take back their freedom so that they can live. So that they can rebuild. As with any battle, there will be losses. Casualties. But with Rick leading the Alexandrian forces, Maggie leading the Hilltop, and King Ezekiel leading the Kingdom - Negan and the Saviors' grip on this world may finally be coming to an end."
I guess we'll just have to watch it to find out what the craic is.
