Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were pulled off air during Wednesday's Good Morning Britain after Piers slammed the crew's abilities.

The gallery played a hilarious little trick on the opinionated presenter because he questioned their professionalism after the wrong date was announced on air yesterday.

It came after Susanna made fun of Piers for not reading the autocue correctly, prompting him to moan: "It said earlier that it was the paper review and we didn't have the papers so I don't believe entirely what I am seeing on that screen.

"I have lost confidence in the gallery's ability to deliver.

"They're a bit like Theresa May at the moment - they promise on that screen what we have and then nothing happens."

But the crew quickly got their own back on Piers when the screen suddenly went black, before turning the cameras back on to reveal co-presenter Charlotte Hawkins instead of Piers.

"They've got the ultimate power," Piers commented. "They can yank the plug and then viewers would rebel and you'll all have to lose your jobs."

This comes after Piers was left fuming on yesterday's show which saw the voiceover say the date was 11th December 2018.

Laying into the crew, he ranted: "It wasn't deliberate. Literally someone's asleep - but they won't be when we finish with them.

"We have to own our mistakes live on air so why should they be allowed to hide when they give the wrong date to the entire country?

"And it's actually last year, it's not even this year!

"We will have some stocks and get them in stocks by the end of the show."

Good Morning Britain continues on ITV every week day at 6am.
