After getting off to an awkward start, filming the dating series together, Megan and Pete shared a hug as they discussed finally being friends - leaving viewers emotional that the pair can finally walk away on good terms.

Earlier this week, Pete and Megan were due to appear on Loose Women together, where they would talk about their time on Celebs Go Dating. However, Megan pulled out of the appearance after news broke of Mike Thalassitis' shock death at the weekend.

When Pete appeared on the chat show without Megan, host Ruth Langsford explained: "Megan was going to be with you, we trailed that this week because you're both on Celebs Go Dating but obviously Mike was a boyfriend of hers and clearly she's very upset."

Pete said: "I've spoken to her very, very briefly. She just needs time to process what's happened, it's a big shock."

Mike and Megan dated for seven months last year, with Megan telling OK! magazine: "I can't even say why we split. I just feel like we're both at different point in our lives.

"We both respect each other and we didn't want it to get nasty or messy.

"There is only so much you can do in a relationship and when it's not working you've got to take separate routes.

"But I wish him all the luck in the world. He's not a nasty person. Everything happens for a reason. It wasn't one of those break-ups like ones I've had in the past where it was really bitter and nasty. This was more a decision we made together.

"The way I dealt with things in the past with my exes was by screaming and that was not a good way to deal with it."
