Considering that Once Upon A Time is a series which revolves around live-action versions of Disney characters living in the real world, it's truly a wonder that the show hasn't dabbled in some of the songs which made classic animated movies so popular in the first place.
However, sticking to its more grounded roots, Once Upon A Time has staunchly refused to include musical elements in its series. Until now.
Executive producer Adam Horowitz confirmed back in February that a musical episode was coming soon, but he didn't say how long we'd have to wait for it:
But in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jennifer Morrison who plays Emma Swan (the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming on the show) has announced that the musical episode will be the one in which Emma gets married to Killian Jones (otherwise known as Captain Hook):
I thought it was perfect. We just felt, like, what better way to make it feel extra special than to have [the wedding] also be the musical episode? It's been so fun! I mean, I feel like I just keep repeating myself: It's just so fun! it's just so fun!I hope [fans'] brains explode! I mean, I hope they enjoy it as much as we have. It's been so fun. I just said it again!
The episode will be called 'The Song In Your Heart' and will be on our screens on 7th May.
It has also been confirmed that the show will be using entirely new music rather than adapting any of the Disney classics that we've come to know and love.
If you haven't quite got on the Once Upon A Time hype yet, we cannot recommend it enough! There are six series to get through but they're all on Netflix so it could definitely be your next binge-watch! Here's a trailer to give you some idea of what it's all about:
What do you think? Would you have liked to see some remixes of classic Disney tunes or are you glad that the old gems are being left alone?
