HBO just released a brand new trailer for Big Little Lies, revealing loads of juicy details about the forthcoming second series.

Boasting an ultra starry line-up of Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep and more, the second series will centre around the aftermath of Perry Wright's (Alexander Skarsgård) death.

The teaser sees Jane (Shailene Woodley), Madeleine (Witherspoon), Celeste (Kidman), Renata (Laura Dern), and Bonnie (Zoe Kravitz) worried about what the future holds for them.

And their unease is only added to when Perry's mum starts snooping around the Monterey Five, wanting to know exactly what happened on the night of the themed party that resulted in murder.

"My son is dead," Streep's character Mary Louise Wright says in a voiceover in the minute-long preview. "I want to know what happened that night. I'm very tempted to ask you but I, I don't think I would get the truth, would I?"

HBO also revealed season two's air date, and fans should expect it on screens on 9th June. Big Little Lies will air on Sky Atlantic here in the UK.

While his character was killed off at the end of series one, it was previously confirmed that Alexander will be making a return - presumably in the form of flashbacks.

Here's the official synopsis for Big Little Lies season two: "The Golden Globe and Emmy-winning series is a subversive, darkly comedic drama, which will continue to explore the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting.

HBO

"Woodley's character Jane Chapman will be processing Perry's sudden death in the storyline, while trying to build a new life for herself and her son, Ziggy.

"Dern, who received both an Emmy and Golden Globe for her performance, will be reprising her role as Renata Klein, a woman who will be faced with new challenges in her marriage.

"Bonnie Carlson, Zoë Kravitz's character, will confront her past while struggling to come to terms with Perry's death."

HBO added: "The subversive, darkly comedic drama Big Little Lies will explore the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting. Relationships will fray, loyalties will erode... the potential for emotional and bodily injury shall loom."

We cannot wait.
