Netflix Series ‘Russian Doll’ Has Been Renewed For Series Two

Netflix hit Russian Doll has been renewed for a second series, and fans are delighted.

The dark comedy was created by Natasha Lyonne, Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland, and shows co-creator Natasha as a coder named Nadia in New York City, who has to attend her own birthday party again and again when she keeps dying and coming back to life.

The show will have a series with eight new episodes, though the release date is not yet known.

The news was announced at an appearance at Recode's Code Conference in Arizona. Speaking about the renewal, Natasha said: "Same show, just weirder. The character is a coder, so it would be appropriate to have this be the time and place to say, yes. So very much yes, I would love to do [a second season]."

Natasha also announced the news on the official Russian Doll Instagram account. She is seen approaching the bathroom mirror, a common theme in the series, and then excitedly says "Season Two".

In case there was any doubt, the post was accompanied by the caption: "Sweet Birthday, Babyyy! #RussianDoll is coming back for Season 2. Let's get loopy."

A video was also posted to Twitter, with the caption: "Did you get the news? 'Cause you're about to die. Season 2 of #RussianDoll is coming soon!"

The first season premiered in February of this year, and starred Greta Lee, Yul Vazquez, Elizabeth Ashley, Charlie Barnett, Chloë Sevigny, Dascha Polanco, Brendan Sexton III, Rebecca Henderson, Jeremy Bobb, Ritesh Rajan and Jocelyn Bioh. It's not yet known who will star in the renewal of the series.

When the Groundhog Day-esque show first came out, it received rave reviews from both critics and fans and currently has a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
