The online streaming giant will inject the author's classics into a new format which will introduce The Twits, Fantastic Mr Fox, Willy Wonka and the BFG to a new generation of fans.

Netflix and The Roald Dahl Story Company both confirmed they'd made a deal to bring a new imagining of the classic tales with an original animated event series.

"This partnership with Netflix marks a significant move towards making that possible and is an incredibly exciting new chapter for the Roald Dahl Story Company. Roald would, I know, be thrilled."
