We love a horror like the next person but new Netflix thriller Eerie has us thinking otherwise after it was branded so terrifying that viewers had to "sleep with the lights on".
The Filipino flick, which was released in cinemas last year, centres around the haunting of a Catholic girl's school after a student named Erika dies in an apparent suicide.
School teacher and nun Patricia investigates the suspicion around her death when the other students claim that Erika's ghost is haunting the campus.
The spine-chilling movie arrived on the popular streaming service earlier this month and has left viewers on edge.
One film fan penned: "Just watched Eerie on Netflix and guess who'll be sleeping with the lights on for a week?"
"Where's my nightlight? Scary af," a second asked after watching the horror.
A viewer added: "Just watched 'Eerie' on Netflix alone ... I've watched a lot of horror movies and my standards are set really high but this shook the f*ck outta me.
"Amazing film. Definitely one of the best I've seen."
One fan said it was making them scream out loud, saying: "I have screamed 3 times in 20minutes and there's still 1hr and 20mins left".
The new release comes hot on the heels of foreign horror series, Typewriter, which also left Netflix viewers spooked.
The series was branded 'terrifying' after it left viewers anxiety-ridden by the chilling storyline.
The five-part show, which is set in India, has been lauded with praise since its release on the streaming service last week, despite leaving some fans so scared they can't sleep.
The series centres around young friends in Goa, who go and explore an abandoned home known for its supernatural activity.
But when a new family with their daughter move into the haunted home, the villa's terrifying past resurfaces in chilling ways.
The Sujoy Ghosh-created show is led by young actors Aarna Sharma, Aaryansh Malviya and Mikhail Gandhi, while Sarah Gesawat takes on lead female in her first on-screen acting gig.
