Netflix Fans Are Struggling To Get Through New Horror 'Typewriter'

Netflix has upped its spine-tingling offerings lately and their latest original, Typewriter, has been branded 'terrifying' after it left viewers anxiety-ridden by the chilling storyline.

The five-part show, which is set in India, has been lauded with praise since its release on the streaming service last week, despite leaving some fans so scared they can't sleep.

The series centres around young friends in Goa, who go and explore an abandoned home known for its supernatural activity.

But when a new family with their daughter move into the haunted home, the villa's terrifying past resurfaces in chilling ways.

The Sujoy Ghosh-created show is led by young actors Aarna Sharma, Aaryansh Malviya and Mikhail Gandhi, while Sarah Gesawat takes on lead female in her first on-screen acting gig.

Discussing the series, which has been branded India's answer to Stranger Things, viewers have claimed they've had trouble sleeping due to the chilling plot online.

A viewer penned on Twitter: "I'm feeling so helpless!!! I tried watching #typewriter in the daytime but could barely watch the first episode. Don't know how will I muster the courage to finish this till the end" (sic).

"#Typewriter has been watched and it's definitely not for the faint hearted! Couldn't see it without looking around to check if all ok in the house!" a second penned.

Another worried fan shared: "Finished watching typewriter.. @sujoy_g Must be having a good sleep after destroying ours!"

One fan praised the show and wrote: "@sujoy_g you are such an amazing director, the show is completely unique in its premise and it has an awesome appeal. The entire star cast is on top form, especially the kids. Cannot wait for season 2."

"Finished season 1 in 4 hours! Looking forward to season 2 @sujoy_g!! Gripping at places but the bar is now higher for season 2!" another added.

I think we've found our next series to binge - although from the sounds of it, we'll be watching it behind a cushion!
