Velvet Buzzsaw, a supernatural thriller set in the exclusive art world, sees the 38-year-old Brokeback Mountain actor team up again with the writer and director of the 2014 film Nightcrawlers.

The trailer looks weird, surreal and utterly compelling. We will definitely be watching.

Netflix says about the upcoming movie: "Velvet Buzzsaw is a thriller set in the contemporary art world scene of Los Angeles where big money artists and mega-collectors pay a high price when art collides with commerce.

"Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, Toni Collette, Zawe Ashton, Tom Sturridge, Natalia Dyer, Daveed Diggs, Billy Magnussen, and John Malkovich star in the new mind-bending film written and directed by Dan Gilroy."

And speaking to Business Insider about the movie, director Dan Gilroy said: "It's set in the world of contemporary art in Los Angeles, and its got a Robert Altman-like large ensemble cast. It's got a The Player vibe to it. There's a large cast and we're moving around from person to person as we move through this world. The story is being told through these different characters."

Fans are already predicting the movie could be as big as Netflix's other recent horror hit Bird Box, starring Sandra Bullock.

"Velvet Buzzsaw [is] gonna be up there with Bird Box. Netflix running it up," one fan said.

"This two minute trailer for Velvet Buzzsaw has managed to scare me more than anything in the entire 124 minute runtime of Bird Box," another person wrote.

Velvet Buzzsaw will premiere at Sundance Film Festival this month and will then be available on Netflix from Friday, 1st February 2019.
