Love Island's Megan Barton-Hanson made headlines and divided audiences this summer with her ruthless approach to the game.

But, despite 'stealing' Lauren Anderson's partner Wes Nelson and rejecting Eyal Booker, she herself legions of fans and now the 24-year-old model from Essex has opened up about the battles with anxiety and depression to inspire and motivate her almost 2 million followers.

Posing next to a boat in a stunning dress, Megan posted: "How times have changed! This time last year I was in really a bad space. My anxiety was at an all time high and looking back now I can see I was actually depressed. I felt like I was getting nowhere and would never fulfil my dreams."

She went on to talk about how her life has changed since the show. "Fast forward one year and here I am going to the @tvchoicemagazine awards, not only in a @julienmacdonald dress but one they actually tailored to fit me! Can't quite believe that so much can change so quickly. If you're feeling shity (sic) today just know that everything can change."

Megan's words came with advice and motivation for those fans who might be going through something similar as she bravely opened up on how she managed to make it through her struggles. She said, "just because you aren't where you want to be it doesn't mean you aren't going to get there.

I'm finally starting to see that I need to believe in myself more, stop being afraid of aiming high, stay focused on my goals and most importantly try to enjoy the journey getting there." she also gushed thanking her friends and family, and especially boyfriend Wes who she together with during Love Island, for their support.

Megan was a late but explosive addition to the show, and while she left in third place, she's been one of the most memorable guests.

She's recently spoken on TV about society's tendency to judge and value women based on their sexual history and has been outspoken on the issue, again positively inspiring and educating her fans.
