Married At First Sight groom Jack has opened up on his marriage to Verity by sharing intimate details - and defended his dad's disrespectful comments about his bride's appearance.

The latest series of Married At First Sight hasn't proved to be any more successful than others, as both marriages this time around have already resulted in separation.

Jack and Verity split three months after the filming finished, and now the groom has revealed why.

Channel 4

Speaking to Closer Magazine, Jack insisted that the pair have remained friends, although put their separation down to a lack of chemistry.

He said: "We got on well, and Verity always made me laugh, but there was just something missing.

"It was a decision I came to gradually and, in the end, I felt I had no choice but to let her go."

IT consultant Jack reasoned: "On paper we were a great match, But, unfortunately, chemistry is something that nobody can predict."

The couple didn't have sex on the Channel 4 show, something Jack says he received a 'lot of stick for'.

"I've had a lot of stick for my no-sex rule - there's this assumption that it was because I didn't find Verity attractive, especially when I told my friends that I fancied her personality," he explained. "I think Verity is a very good looking girl."

While they might not have had sex on their wedding day, Jack revealed that they had 'done bits' before their split.

Jack's dad, Mark, sparked a backlash among fans of the show after commenting on his son's new wife's looks, adding that he didn't believe the marriage would last - something with Jack has now also defended.

Before he had even met his new daughter-in-law, Mark told the cameras: "I hope she is quite slim, athletic, well-spoken... Hopefully a fun-loving girl."

But it seems like he was unimpressed by his son's match, snapping that the marriage won't last as he "knows his son".

The angry backlash saw Mark issue a grovelling apology on Twitter, and now Jack's defended his dad further.

"My dad is one of the nicest guys. In the end he loved Verity, and so did the rest of my family," he explained, adding that his dad was upset their marriage didn't work out.
