Love Island's Amber Gill and Michael Griffiths have been on and off throughout their eight weeks in the villa.

And while many believed things were over following their Casa Amor fracas, the former couple lock lips on tonight's episode, leaving Amber with a difficult decision when she must choose between the firefighter, 27, and new bombshell Greg O'Shea in a shock recoupling.

After telling his fellow Islanders that he still has feelings for Amber, Michael goes to chat to her and explains that he's finally got "clarity" about the situation.

The Liverpudlian says: "The situation that I am in now has given me time to clarify a few things in my head. It's given me time to think and realise I do like Amber.

"I can only apologise about how I was over the last few weeks. I'm just letting you know that I do still like you."

Shocked by his admission, the Geordie, 21, responds: "I don't get it. If you liked me the whole time, why would you do that? Would you still have done this if she [Joanna] was still here?"

Trying to convince her, Michael, who was earlier this week devastated when Joanna left, reveals: "Yes. I would have to have this conversation. I knew that I still liked you. I just kept denying it to myself."

Amber later admits in the Beach Hut that she is taken aback by Michael's change of heart and adds: "I actually cannot believe what is happening! I cannot believe Michael of all people, pushed his pride to the side and said how he really felt."

You're not alone Amber, we can't believe it either.

But all is not lost for Greg as he attempts to win Amber over while competing to be named the villa's buffest builder.

The girls are particularly impressed with the Limerick native, who chooses Amber to be his partner during the high-jinx, and his sexy routine around the construction-style course.

As with other challenges, the boys can mark the end of their routine by planting a smooch on their girl but Greg plays it safe and respectfully kisses Amber on the cheek.

In the Beach Hut, Greg reflects on his decision and says: "I thought it was better off giving her a little peck on the cheek and treating her like the lovely lady she is!"

Not one to be outdone, Michael goes a step further when he chooses Amber to be his partner and passionately kisses her at the end, leaving Islanders and viewers aghast.

As the saying goes, 'the course of true love never did run smooth', and it appears to be the case when later that evening, Maura receives a text.

MESSAGE.

It reads: "Islanders. Tonight, there will be a recoupling in which the girls will choose which boy they want to couple up with. #manofthemoment."

As the girls have all the power, Amber is left with a tough decision to make.

The suspense is real people.
