ITV bosses are reportedly planning a Love Island Christmas special, which will see this year's cast reunite - including all the former couples.

There are only four couples actually left from Love Island 2018, as almost all have going their separate ways after struggling to make things work outside of the reality villa, so things could get pretty awkward in this festive one-off.

Sources say that the show's producers have already been in touch with Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer to get them on-board with the Christmas special.

"Bosses have been wanting to get the cast back together for a few years now but have finally been given the green light because of the success of this year's show," an insider told The Sun.

"They know exactly the kind of drama that viewers want to see and getting together the couples who have split will certainly make for tense viewing."

They added: "Producers are in the process of getting people to sign up and they are hoping that everybody agrees to it."

This reunion - if it goes ahead - could even see the cast head back to the villa in Mallora, where love blossomed and failed, and feuds over loyalty began.

It might not just be the reality stars from this year's series appearing on the show either, as reports suggest producers are even considering introducing some of the cast from previous seasons for a little extra drama.

"If they get on well with this year's contestants then sparks could fly," added the TV source.

Sam Bird and Georgia Steel were the latest Love Island couple to call time on their romance, and it seems like things were left on a sour note between the two.

Charlie Brake and Ellie Brown announced they had called time on their relationship earlier this month, with Laura Crane and Jack Fowler doing the same just a couple of weeks before.

Laura Anderson and Paul Knops ended their relationship in September whereas it was all over for Samira Mighty and Frankie Foster just a few days after she walked from the villa to be with him.
