Love Island viewers were left gobsmacked last night when late arrival to the villa Tommy Fury stole Lucie Donlan from Joe Garratt during the villa's first round of recouplings.

Lucie and Joe paired up in the first episode of the show, and the duo had already been labelled the "best couple" in the villa by fans.

The pair even shared a passionate kiss round the fire pit ahead of the recouplings on Tuesday night, but it now seems like Tommy had his eyes set on her from the get-go.

As the boxer announced to the group that he would be partnering up with Lucie, fans couldn't believe what they were hearing, with many flocking to Twitter to share their upset for Joe, who looked on the verge of tears.

"I'm f*cking fuming how dare Tommy take Lucie away from Joe like what the hell I acc feel like crying for Joe rn," vented one person.

While somebody else declared: "I'm so annoyed at tommy ugh (still marry me tho) Lucie and Joe were the BEST couple. DID U SEE THE LOOK ON JOES FACE? crying [sic]."

"TOMMY DID NOT JUST SPLIT UP LUCIE AND JOE F*CK OFF ," raged another fan.

And a fourth frustrated at Tommy's decision added: "Ffs Tommy, Lucie and Joe were the only two that ACTUALLY like eachother so far #LoveIsIand [sic]."

Others couldn't quite believe that Joe was so upset over a girl he'd known for less than 48 hours, but when it's love, it's love, right?

It seems like Joe's upset is set to play out in tonight's episode (Wednesday, 5th June) as he is set to tell Amber Gill: "It hurts right now, I can't lie." Bless him

But she decides stirs the pot as Joe is visibly emotional, asking: "Do you not think that something has been said in order for him to want to pick her?"

Here's hoping Lucie and Joe find their way back to one another ASAP as it's clear Twitter won't be able to handle the heartache.

Love Island continues tonight on ITV2 at 9pm
