The dark and hotly-anticipated minute-long trailer for Killing Eve has been shared on the show's official Twitter and Instagram page and sees the two protagonists: Villanelle (played by Jodie Comer) and Eve (played by Sandra Oh) return to their twisted game of cat and mouse.

But after the twisted events of the first series - this time their feelings are involved.

"I found Villanelle, I think I might have killed her," Eve confesses to somebody on the phone

"Sometimes, when you love someone, you do crazy things," Villanelle's voiceover says as she strokes carrots off the blade of a carving knife.

It looks like after her injury Villanelle is back to her old assassin ways as well, as she's seen hurriedly looking through a kitchen drawer and then tells an off-camera character that she's looking for a kitchen knife to stab them with.

As per season one, Eve's boss, Carolyn Martens (played by Fiona Shaw), is causing obstacles and asking questions about Eve and Villanelle's complicated relationship.

She's heard asking: "Why are you and Villanelle so interested in each other?"

Little does she know the events that happened in the first series between the pair.

Jodie teased at the Television Critics Association press tour that audiences will see Villanelle in a completely different way in season two, with the events of the series-one finale (namely Eve stabbing her) having a huge impact on their twisted relationship.

The actor revealed that the confrontation "affects them and changes them in a way neither of them are quite expecting."

Sandra agreed: "You see them vulnerable in slightly different ways. They've crossed a line."

We were all left swooning over Villanelle's wardrobe in series one (namely that pink, ruffled dress)and showrunner Emerald Fennell has revealed Villanelle's costumes will continue to form a large part of series two.

She said: "[Costuming is] much more particular when it comes to this show than any other because Villanelle fetishises clothes...and that's something I personally really relate to," she said.

Jodie added: "You see her in a completely new, vulnerable setting, and her clothes are completely different... You'll see, when she moves out of that vulnerable setting, how much her clothing means to her."

Killing Eve returns 7 April on BBC America.
