Gogglebox's June Bernicoff has shared a moving tribute to husband Leon on the first anniversary of his death.

Leon sadly passed away two days before Christmas 2018 and 83-year-old June tweeted to her followers that Christmas 'can be a lonely time for some'.

June has said that she has found comfort from the 'lovely messages' she has received from fans who remembered Leon on the anniversary of his death.

Taking to Twitter, June wrote: "Thank you to all you lovely people who sent messages today, remembering Leon. It is so comforting to know how much he was loved. Thank you!"

She also added: "Good Night All! Please remember those alone tomorrow a lonely day for some. Merry Christmas to you all!"

Leon passed away on the 23rd December 2017 following a short illness. After his death June said she would not be returning to the Channel 4 show.

When asked on Twitter whether she would take part in the series with one of her daughters instead, she responded: "It was a great adventure with a great finale with the NTA."

June and Leon were part of the original Gogglebox cast when the show began back in 2013.

The pair were together for 60 years after meeting at a teacher training college in 1955.

However, things weren't always easy for the couple as they had to hide their relationship for several years due to Leon's family being Jewish and June having a Catholic upbringing.

In 60 years of marriage, they said the longest the they had ever been apart was four days.

In September June opened up about life without her husband and broke the nation's hearts.

June admitted the first time she really cried over Leon's death was in February this year, when Gogglebox bosses dedicated an episode to him.
