Emmerdale star James Moore has reflected on his unprecedented National Television Awards win last week, saying that the moment he won and stumbling when he got onto the stage was all "a blur".

The actor who plays Ryan Stocks, the son of Charity Dingle (played by Emma Atkins) on the ITV soap, scooped the prize for Best Newcomer on Tuesday.

But rather than the unprecedented and deserved win, it was James' friend Glenn's actions which turned heads. He carrying the award winner onto the stage on his back, spun him around and dropped him.

In an interview with James on This Morning with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Glenn, who was off-camera, said: "When he was nominated I thought OMG he's gonna win, we were just having a good time, you know?

"James said he wanted me to go on stage with him if he won, so I kind of said, 'Right, if you win I'm giving you a piggy back.

"We got to the moment and I said, 'Are we doing this,' and he said, 'Yeah, screw it.' So he jumped on my back..."

James laughed when Phil commented that Glenn was no carer for James, who lives with cerebral palsy, at all.

The actor said to the presenters: "It still doesn't feel real, it doesn't feel real that I'm say here talking to you. The moment when I won the award, that 15 minutes after was just a blur and I can't remember any of it."

During the interview, James also talked about his activism and why he tries his best to use social media to get the word out about disabilities in the TV industry.

James explained: "I would like to get into a position where we're putting more disabled people into the industry and casting them in more roles, because there are a lot out there. In my own work and my own public stuff like Twitter I'm trying to advocate for more.

"But at the end of the day, especially considering how more open we're getting in the modern day, I think now would be a good time to throw what I've got in and see what happens. I never thought that I'd be getting the role on Emmerdale."

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm and repeats at 8pm on Thursdays on ITV. This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
