ITV has an intriguing psychological thriller, Cheat, launching today.
The four-part series will be shown over four consecutive days in a wonderfully addictive binge-watching sequence.
Cheat centres around a drama-filled premise: a university professor, Leah, suspects her student Rose of cheating, during a hot summer at a fictional university in Cambridge.
However, the plot soon becomes far more complicated than just the question of whether someone has cheated on an essay, with circumstances quickly unravelling into deathly consequences.

"University lecturer Dr Leah Dale has always prided herself on her academic integrity so when final year student Rose, submits a suspiciously top-grade essay, Leah is quick to call her out," reads ITV's explainer of the drama.
"But there's more going on than meets the eye as Rose takes the challenge as a personal affront, and what begins as a seemingly open and shut case of academic deception soon spirals out of control."
According to director Louise Hooper, it was important to make sure that the plot was "cat and cat" rather than "cat and mouse", with both women underestimating and trying to outdo each other as the series unfolds.

"It's two amazing actresses with amazing parts and we wanted to pit them against each other so it's like two boxers in a ring," Hooper said at a screening in London.
Leah is played by Katherine Kelly, of former Coronation Street fame, while Rose is played by Molly Windsor, who won a BAFTA Award for her lead role in Three Girls.
Other roles include Tom Goodman-Hill as Leah's husband Adam Dale, Peter Firth as Leah's father Michael, Lorraine Ashbourne as Leah's mother Angela, and Adrian Edmondson as Rose's father William.

Cheat will be shown on ITV every evening from 9pm to 10pm from Monday, 11th March until Thursday, 14th March.
