Season two of The Handmaid's Tale ended with a devastating decision for protagonist June (Elisabeth Moss).

Faced with a chance to flee the violent and oppressive state of Gilead once and for all, she chose to stay behind in a desperate attempt to retrieve her daughter Hannah. Passing her newborn daughter over to Ofglen, Alexis Bledel, she turns and runs back in the direction of those who have raped and imprisoned her for years.

Fans knew that season three was going to be another intense ride, though admittedly with a change of pace now that June has fled her oppressors and is on the run.

And we now have a glimpse of the new series, with a full length trailer dropping from Hulu today.

The three-minute long trailer opens with a typically determined looking June staring straight into the camera while we see brief flashes of scenes from both season 2 and unseen moments from the new series.

The voiceover from June begins chillingly; "Heresy. That's what you get punished for, not for being part of the resistance. Not for helping people escape, because officially, there's no such thing as escape."

We get some clue as to what the future holds, with it looking like June gets help from both Serena Waterford, who helped her escape at the end of season 2, and her lover Nick.

We also see Ofglen, or Emily as is his birth name, facing a new life post Gilead.

But there is hope that this season may see the much longed-for overthrowing of Gilead and its heinous practices. The word which runs over the trailer 'This June, witness the birth of a revolution' hint that we may get the victory we want for these resilient characters.

While we don't yet know for certain when the show will air in the UK, it is believed to be end of June or early July. For a full breakdown of all we know about the new series check out our comprehensive guide.
