It has been a long 12 years since the drama of Footballers' Wives filled our lives, but it could be about to make a comeback according soap veteran Gary Lucy.

According to the actor, who played Kyle Pascoe in the ITV drama, there has been talk of reviving the noughties hit show - and he'd love to return to his role.

Gary became a household name thanks to his place in the drama, before going on to enjoy a long acting career in the likes of The Bill, EastEnders and Hollyoaks.

Now, the 36-year-old has revealed he'd love to reprise his role a Kyle, describing his time in Footballers' Wives as a 'fantastic time in my life.'

Speaking to The Sun, Gary said: "There has been loads of talk about it [a revival] but would I go back? I'd absolutely love to revisit that at some point but who knows what the future brings."

The iconic series took over ITV between 2002 and 2006 and was based on the fictional Premier League football club Earls Park Football Club - its players and their wives, who all embodied a stereotypical WAG.

However, the glitz and the glamour just wasn't to last as bosses were forced to pull the drama from our screens when the programme's ratings plummeted in 2006.

While Gary confirmed there has been 'loads of talks' about reviving the show, he isn't the only cast member who's keen to see the return of the footie drama.

Zoe Lucker and Laila Rouass recently appeared on Loose Women where they hinted they'd also be keen to get involved in a revival.

Laila admitted: "I would if it was as good as we were in it," while Zoe agreed she'd also like to return.

During their appearance, the actors talked about theirfavourite story-lines on the programme.

Zoe said: "I always loved the baby swap it was so inappropriate, and I said I wanted your baby, and then I put fake tan on her baby after stealing it and swapping it, and then unfortunately, my real baby got squished by my pug."
