Game Of Thrones Spin-Off Age Of Heroes Has Been Cancelled

Game of Thrones' final season hasn't even started yet, and it won't be gracing our screens for a while, but that doesn't mean there won't be any more drama when the show's all wrapped up.

It's been previously announced that a few GoT spin-off shows are in the works, but it sounds like one of them has already been axed.

Writer of the GoT novels and the true King of the Seven Kingdoms, George R. R. Martin took to his blog to say on the matter: "If you have been following along, you know that we started with four and eventually went to five.

"One of those has been shelved, I am given to understand, and of course Jane's pilot is now moving to film. But that does not mean the others are dead. Three more GAME OF THRONES prequels, set in different periods and featuring different characters and storylines, remain in active development.

"Everything I am told indicates that we could film at least one more pilot, and maybe more than one, in the years to come. We do have an entire world and tens of thousands of years of history to play with, after all. But this is television, so nothing is certain."

Even with the loss of one prequel, it still looks like there's going to be lot of action coming our way.

According to IMDB, George is credited as a writer in the untitled projects, though information about what the prequels will actually be about is thin on the ground.

There are a few canon books of George's that touch on the deep and complex history of Westeros, including the popular The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and The Game of Thrones.

November will see the release of George's latest book, Fire and Blood: 300 Years Before A Game of Thrones (A Targaryen History).

It's more than likely we'll see a few names from these books in the new shows.
