We all know how hard the world of dating can be, which is why sometimes it can be nice to have a little helping hand from people who know what they're doing.

Well, now that summer is over and 'relationship season' is officially upon us, it might be time that we put the M&S meals for one back in the freezer and enlist the help of Fred and the rest of the First Dates team.

The Channel 4 programme is currently on the look out for daters to come and enjoy a date in the restaurant for Christmas special - which we all know will be a particularly heart-warming episode.

Advertising on Facebook, the official First Dates page wrote: "DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO DESERVES LOVE THIS CHRISTMAS

"This year, we're asking friends and family members to nominate someone they would love to see matched with Mr or Mrs Right

"If you want to give someone the gift of love this Christmas, please email [email protected] with your contact details and the reason why they deserve to find love."

First Dates spin-off programme, First Dates Hotel is currently airing on Channel 4 on Tuesday evenings, and one dater recently demonstrated that it's harder than most people think to go on a blind date in a foreign country.

Sophie Rush left viewers concerned and worried when she started crying half way through her date with Darryl.

The 23-year-old burst into tears when her date went to the toilet, as she told waitress Laura: "I don't look at him and think you are literally the man of my dreams."

Sophie was seemed distressed that the chemistry between her and Darryl wasn't 'instant'.

After a trip to the loos to pull herself together, Sophie was left in tears for a second time when Darryl called her 'negative'.

Despite it being followed by an apology, it was all just too much for Sophie, who later revealed the reason behind her tears.

Taking to Twitter after the episode aired, Sophie explained it was a 'high pressure situation' and blamed lack of sleep and 'lots of prosecco' for her tears.

"It's a bit mean everyone saying I need help and need therapy etc," she wrote.

"My flight was 4 hrs delayed, I had no sleep, was going on a blind date, he said I was negative, cameras everywhere, I couldn't cope and I cried! Sorry about that no need to be so mean!?

"It was a high pressure situation on no sleep and I also had lots of prosecco and things got on top of me!

"Give a girl a break! U try going on there n see how good u look! Never look down on someone unless you're helping them up.

"Some people are so nasty [sic]."
