The supernatural cult hit Charmed is coming back to our screens with a 'fun and feminist' new reboot - and it's airing on British TV very soon.
The original, which ran for eight seasons from 1998 to 2006 and memorably starred Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan, has been updated with a brand new cast. However, it will still be packed with all the spells, witchcraft and devilishly dark occult storylines that we know and love.

This 22-episode series, from the creator of Jane The Virgin, began airing in the US last October.

The new show will air in the UK on Tuesday, 8th January 2019 at 9pm.

The new show, like the original, centres on three sisters who must accept their destiny as The Charmed Ones and use The Power of Three to protect humankind.
The siblings, however, have been renamed: Prue is now known as Macy (played by Madeleine Mantock), Piper is now known as Mel (played by Melonie Diaz) and Phoebe is now known as Maggie (played by Sarah Jeffery).
Rounding out the main cast is Rupert Evans as Harry Greenwood, the sisters' Whitelighter guardian angel, Ser'Darius Blain as Galvin Burdette, a molecular geneticist who works at the Hilltowne University lab with Macy, Ellen Tamaki as Niko Hamada, a detective with the Hilltowne police department and Nick Hargrove as Parker Caine, a friend of Maggie Vera who is the president of a local fraternity.
How is the new series different from the original?

Producers have tweaked some elements of the show, such as moving the setting from San Francisco to the fictional college town of Hilltowne, Michigan.
The family name has also been changed to Vera, rather than Halliwell, and the youngest sister's power is now telepathy, as opposed to premonition.
The cast of the reboot is also more ethnically diverse - and the middle sister's character is a lesbian.

"Charmed's updates are as fun as they are surprisingly feminist -- and with a sharper focus, it could conjure up an even stronger show than the one that came before it," according to the Critics' Consensus on review site Rotten Tomatoes.
What has the original cast said about the reboot?
The reboot has been somewhat controversial among the original cast, with Holly Marie Combs slamming the announcement of the new show.
"Don't even think of capitalizing on our hard work," she wrote on Twitter. "Charmed belongs to the four of us [the original cast], our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly the fans."
Shannen Doherty, meanwhile, was more supportive, tweeting: "Charmed was a wonderful empowering show for women. I'm proud I started a show that has stood the test of time with such loyal fans. It's a testament to the original that a new one is even being considered. I'm actually curious about their plans for it. And no, it won't be the same but nothing is."
And cast member Rose McGowan was firmly behind the plan, tweeting: "I wish everyone the best. I have zero reboot issues. Fly, girls, fly."
