It's been 17 years since Reese Witherspoon walked into our lives as Elle Woods, and fans were promised a third flick in the saga last summer by the actress.

With the news that originally cast member Luke Wilson is completely on-board with a third movie, here's everything we know so far about Legally Blonde 3. Bend and snap, girls.

Who is on-board?

Reese Witherspoon confirmed that talks for third Legally Blonde had happened last summer with a short video of herself on a pool float sunning it up. "It's true... #LegallyBlonde3."

The actress is set to reprise her role as Harvard grad and ultimate girl power girl Elle.

As for the other members of the cast, it's unclear. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Reese said that some OG cast members would be returning, but didn't specify who. The original cast included Selma Blair and Jennifer Coolidge.

"Oh, it's gonna be so fun! I got to go to a meeting the other day where we talked about all the new plot points and all the characters and some returning characters and some new characters. I mean, I got so excited just in the meeting. I was like, 'This is gonna be good'," Elle told the publication.

More recently, Luke Wilson discussed the potential of him picking up his role as Emmet in the third movie, and it's something he's fully here for.

"I'd definitely be up for it... All I've heard is the same thing everyone else has heard, it's that they might be doing a Legally Blonde 3," he told Entertainment Tonight earlier this week. "But I can't imagine anything that would be more fun. Reese played such a great character. I'd love to do a Legally Blonde 3."

What would the plot be?

Elle seems excited by the new plot during interviews, although it's being kept under-wraps for now.

However, Matthew Davis, who portrayed Warner Huntington III in Legally Blonde, suggested: "I would love to see something where perhaps Warner is married to a politician, to a woman who's running for office, and he's sort of like a kept man."

And on Watch What Happens Live, Elle said: "Somebody thought it would be really funny if Elle went to jail." We're not sure how we feel about that one.

Who is producing it?

The film is reportedly still looking for a new director, after the former two, Robert Luketic and second director Charles Herman-Wurmfeld, declined to be part of the new movie.

Producers Marc Platt and Adam Siegel are confirmed Legally Blonde 3 and Reese is also listed as a producer.

Kirsten 'Kiwi' Smith and Karen McCullah are reportedly in talks to write the script.
