Netflix's Conversations With A Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes gave fans a deep dive into the serial killer's "extremely wicked, shockingly evil and vile" crimes and murders as well as an insight into his trial in June 1979.
The trial itself has been described as bizarre, as Bundy - a former law student - represented himself, before finding a legal loophole to propose to his girlfriend Carole Ann Boone in the courtroom as scores of women fascinated by the serial killer watched on.
However, putting all that aside, viewers of the Netflix series are all saying the same thing about the Miami trial's judge, Edward D. Cowart of Dade County Circuit Court, who passed away at 62 in 1987.

Some believe that his closing statement for Bundy - whose crimes saw him sentenced to death by electric chair for the murder of two Florida State University sorority members - was 'too lenient'
As Cowart told Bundy that he had lost his right to live, the judge reflected over his failed law career rather than his heinous crimes.
"Take care of yourself, young man. I say that to you sincerely; take care of yourself, please. It's a tragedy for this court to see such a total waste, I think, of humanity that I have experienced in this court," said Cowart in part of his statement.
"You're a bright young man. You would have made a good lawyer and I would have loved to have you practice in front of me, but you went another way, partner. Take care of yourself. I don't feel any animosity toward you. I want you to know that. Once again, take care of yourself."

Viewers of the Netflix series have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on Cowart's closing statement as Bundy was taken off to Death Row.
"I'm watching the Ted Bundy Tapes and wtf......literally at the end when it's clear he murdered all those women and was sentenced to the death penalty THE JUDGE tells ted to take care of himself and that he's a bright man and he has no animosity towards him. ARE U KIDDING ME [sic]," tweeted one.
While another added: "Imagine being a family member of one of the HUNDRED women killed by Ted Bundy & hearing a judge say, "You're a bright young man. I would have loved to see you up here practicing in front of me. I have no animosity towards you." F*cking SICKENING."
Of course, the judge also called his barbaric crimes "extremely wicked, shockingly evil and vile", a phrase which has been taken up as the title of the new movie starring Zac Efron on the serial killer, which is set to be released on Netflix.

Others have since defended the judge, with one writing: "ALSO people b*tching about judge Cowart in The Ted Bundy Tapes need to relax. He treated him like a human being, and with respect. He did his job. Relax."
