Emmerdale's Charley Webb And Matthew Wolfenden Got Married In Secret
Emmerdale actors Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden have opened up about the moment they got married in a secret ceremony.
The couple got together after meeting on the ITV set back in 2007, and have been engaged for nine years. Together they share two children, Buster aged seven and two-year-old Bowie.
Now, it has been revealed that the pair recently got married in secret after inviting their guests to a party to celebrate Charley's 30th birthday.
One hundred guests arrived at Ripley Castle in Harrogate, expecting to attend the birthday party, to be told that their wedding was taking place instead.
Several celebrity guests who attended the ceremony were given surprise roles in the wedding, including Charley's brother, Jamie Lomas, who gave her away, and Lucy Pargeter who plays Chaz, being given the role of bridesmaid.
Charley told OK magazine: "That moment when we announced what we were doing and seeing everybody's reaction is the best moment of my life".
"This way we got to do it totally the way we wanted - it wasn't traditional, we didn't have a sit-down meal and there weren't loads of speeches.
"Someone once told me their friend had a surprise wedding and it stuck in my mind."
Matthew also explained: "We couldn't have had a better response. People just screamed for about ten minutes!
"It's funny to think that our guests thought they were coming to Charley's 30th party - then we told them it was our wedding!
"It wasn't the most traditional wedding, but we wanted it to be different."
