Last month, we caught wind that the creators behind Love Island were working on a new dating show called Singletown.

Now, the new ITV2 show has its hosts - actress Emily Atack and comedian Joel Dommett - along with some juicy new details that have already got us counting down the days until its debut.

Emily, who starred in The Inbetweeners and came second in the 2018 edition of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, said she was "over the MOON" to announce the news on Instagram, adding it had been "the worst kept secret since sliced bread."

Joel, who starred in Skins, Impractical Jokers and is also I'm A Celeb alumni, said he was "so unbelievably excited to finally announce the unannouncable."

Singletown, which does not yet have a release date, will be made up of 15 episodes and will follow struggling couples who go on a 'break' in order to test their relationship. Sound familiar?

If you ask us, the format is uncannily similar to the Casa Amor segment of Love Island - and we are SO here for it.

But instead of being trapped in a luxury villa in Mallorca, these temporary singles will be housed in swanky apartments in the capital during the summer, going on handpicked dates and experiencing everything the city has to offer.

A producer explains: "Each couple will have a different reason for putting their relationships on ice - from school sweethearts who've never dated other people properly, newer relationships that have hit the rocks, or maybe two people who just want a summer of self-discovery before they settle down."

At the end, the couples will decide if they want to stay together, or part ways for good. BRUTAL!

ITV added: "Singletown sees five couples decide to press pause on their relationships and spend one incredible summer experiencing single life and all it has to offer in London's glamorous social scene.

"At the end of the summer, will they choose to go back to their partner or stick to flying solo? Hosts Emily and Joel will be there every step of the way as their mentors, guiding them on their journey."

Not going to lie, we're buzzing.
