Elf has officially been voted the best Christmas film of all time, because everyone knows the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.
The wholesome family film, starring Will Ferrell was voted the best family Christmas film, beating off stiff competition from Home Alone, The Polar Express, The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Santa Clause, according to Ranker.

Released in 2003, Elf follows the story of Buddy the Elf, a human who is raised as an Elf in the North Pole, before travelling to New York to meet his biological father.
The Christmas classic also stars James Caan as his biological dad, Walter, and Zoeey Deschanel as Jovie, Buddy's unenthusiastic love interest.
It was made with an impressive budget of $33 million (£25 million), however it made six times that at the Box Office, so you could say it was a bit of a success.

Even the tough-to-crack Rotten Tomatoes gave the film an 84 per cent rating, with the Critical Consensus saying: "A movie full of Yuletide cheer, Elf is a spirited, good-natured family comedy, and it benefits greatly from Will Ferrell's funny and charming performance as one of Santa's biggest helpers."
In fact, there's so much of a demand for the festive film that there was a public outcry back in 2016 when it was revealed that no British television channels were showing Elf in the lead up to Christmas, or on the day itself.
Judging by Twitter, fans of the movie are already getting into the festive spirit of watching Elf, with one asking: "How can anyone not enjoy Elf?"

Another added: "Snuggled in with the whole family watching Elf. Does life get any better?!"
A third said: "If you don't like Elf you have no soul".
If you haven't caught it on TV yet then you best hurry up because Christmas is only one week away, you cotton-headed ninny muggins.
