The BBC just dropped the highly anticipated Christmas trailer for EastEnders, and it hints at shocking violence between Kat and Alfie Moon after she discovers her husband's ultimate betrayal.

It seems like there will be no Christmas cheer in Walford for the Slaters and the Moons once again when the truth behind Alfie and Hayley Slater's baby emerges.

Kat doesn't know that her husband Alfie had a secret baby with her cousin, and it looks like it will all come out on Christmas day.

In the 30 second-long trailer for the hour-long episode, the two families settle down for Christmas dinner, but when the huge secret comes to light, Kat begins smashing up the house in anger.

As tears roll down her face, Kat (Jessie Wallace) is then seen threatening Alfie with a metal pipe in the street, before declaring: "I will do time for you."

Kat then smashes the window of Charlie's black cab with her weapon.

The synopsis for the Christmas episode reads: "Kat is determined to have the perfect family Christmas, unaware that her world is about to be turned upside down when the truth about Alfie and Hayley surfaces - bringing with it consequences that nobody could predict."

Whether she goes through with her shocking threats remains to be seen, but EastEnders' Christmas episode is always drama fuelled meaning anything could happen in Walford.

Actor Shane Richie, who plays Alfie, also previously revealed that Christmas day would see somebody with blood on their hands in a shocking twist.

The trailer isn't the only sneak peek at the Christmas episode that's hinting at murder.

Images have emerged from filming which appear to show a body in a bay lying in woodland before being found by two unsuspecting dog walkers.

The police then arrive and cordon off the area where the body has been discovered. A forensics tent is later put up, and a murder investigation launched.

The Beeb is keeping the identity of the killed-off character under wraps (quite literally) for now, but EastEnders fans have been promised an explosive episode with the new trailer.

EastEnders will air on Christmas day on BBC One at 9.15pm.
