Disney Just Dropped A First Look Trailer For The Live-Action Aladdin Remake

Disney just released a first look for the live action remake of Aladdin, starring Will Smith, and it will bring back all kinds of nostalgia.

The trailer takes fans on a magic carpet ride through the enchanted tale of Princess Jasmine, Aladdin and Genie, transforming the 1992 Disney classic into a modern day delight.

Naomi Scott stars as Princess Jasmine in this reboot, being joined by Mena Massoud as Aladdin himself.

Persuit of Happiness actor Will was one of the first stars cast in Disney's remake, with the actor taking on the role of Genie from Robin Williams.

The character is synonymous with the late actor, who won a Golden Globe Award for Genie, so it will be intriguing to see how Will has made the role his own.

Will teased fans with a poster for the movie on Instagram on Wednesday night, telling his followers that he couldn't wait for them to 'see him blue', although we still didn't get a glimpse of him in the trailer.

"LEMME OUT!! Can't wait for y'all to see Me BLUE!" exclaimed the actor under his Instagram post of a magic lamp sat on a deep purple background.

The poster looks almost identical for that of the 1992 film too.

Other actors for the remake include Marwan Kenzari as evil sourcer Jafar, and Navid Negahban as the Sultan, the wise ruler of Agrabah, who is eager to find his daughter, Princess Jasmine, a husband.

Nasim Pedrad portrays Princess Jasmine's loyal handmaiden, Dalia, who did not actually appear in the 1992 film. Billy Magnussen will play Prince Anders, and Numan Acar is Hakim, Jafar's right-hand man.

Disney has promised that the film will be released next year in cinemas on 24th May, rather than on its not-yet-launched streaming platform, Disney Play.

Film by film, the magical franchise is remaking our childhood classics into live-action films, with Lilo & Stitch, Lady and The Tramp, Mulan and Dumbo all being reworked.
