The surprise smash comedy hit burst onto our screens in 2018, following Irish schoolgirls Erin, Orla, Michelle and Clare, along with the 'wee English fella' James as they are all growing up in Northern Ireland during the Troubles in the late 20th century.

Derry Girls garnered a huge following with the first season as it aired on Channel 4, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a glimpse at series two after it was confirmed by producers. Thankfully, that preview is finally here in the form of a full official trailer.

The new preview shows the group heading off together for a weekend away to see Take That in concert (or as Erin's mammy calls them 'This and That'). They are also seen dancing to 'Oops Up Insider Your Head' at a school disco, bringing fans pure nostalgia.

Starring Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Erin, Louisa Harland as her cousin Erin, Nicola Coughlan as Clare, Jamie-Lee O'Donnell as Michelle plus more, Derry Girls season two is reportedly set to air in March - but the next instalment of the northern Ireland sitcom can't come soon enough, if you ask us.

The series has been penned by Derry native, Lisa McGee, and has won a flurry of awards and accolades. It was reportedly Channel 4's biggest comedy release in almost two decades.

Channel 4 boss Ian Katz said: "Derry Girls is a blast of fresh air. It's everything we want from Channel 4 comedy: young, warm, brimming with new talent and rooted in an underrepresented part of the country. And a hit to boot.

"I'm delighted that we've commissioned a second series and can't wait to see what Lisa does next."
