Disney is delaying its live-action reboot of Cruella, starring Emma Stone, until 2021 as part of a switch-up in its release date calendar.

The film, based on Cruella De Vil, the villain from the 1961 animated classic 101 Dalmatians, will see the La La Land actress take on title the role of the fur-wearing, puppy killing villain.

Game of Thrones Joel Fry's will be taking on the role of Jasper, one of Cruella's henchmen, while Emma Thompson is rumoured to be playing the Baroness. Paul Walter Hauser is also rumoured to be starring and the movie will be directed by I, Tonya's Craig Gillespie.

The release date for the film has been moved from 23rd December 2020 to 28th May 2021 to make way for Amy Adams' The Woman in the Window which was scheduled to be released this year, but is moving to 2020.

The Nocturnal Animals actress will be heading up the thriller which was acquired by Disney from 20th Century Fox. The screenplay is adapted from the A.J. Finn novel which follows a nosey psychologist who witnesses a crime while spying on her neighbours.

Cruella will take the place of an untitled Disney film, which was due to be released in its slot.

Emma Stone's new Disney villain was first depicted in 1996 with the live-action version of 101 Dalmations, where Glenn Close played the evil Cruella.

We can't wait to see how the comedy actress takes on the evil character! 2021 can't come sooner.

In other Disney-related news, bosses recently unveiled the first look at the soon-to-be-famous pooches from the upcoming Lady and the Tramp reboot, and tbh we couldn't have cast it better ourselves.

The real life doggos resemble the animated characters from the 1955 classic perfectly, and what's better, all they're all rescue! 10 points to Disney.

Lady will be played by Rose, a brown and beige cocker spaniel with adorable floppy ears just like her animated counterpart, and voiced by Creed star Tessa Thompson.
