Netflix has renewed Jason Bateman-starring crime drama Ozark for a third series next year.

The news was confirmed by star and director, Jason on his Twitter, yesterday using a picture of the number three in Ozark font.

He captioned the picture: "I'm happy for me, but concerned for Marty - it's official OZARK 3 is on its way."

The new series will consist of 10 episodes, and will follow Jason's character, Marty Byrde, who becomes entwined with a dangerous drug cartel.

Ozark quickly became a favourite among critics and viewers, with one survey finding that the show was the Netflix's most-watched title during the summer of 2017.

Although no release date for season three has been announced, season one arrived 21st July, 2017, and season two following on 31st August this year, it could be available on Netflix around September 2019.

However, Jason also recently explained that he was taking some time off to spend with his family, so the season could come out later than next summer.

Speaking on the Ellen Show last month he said: "I'm going to do nothing until March of next year, I think.

"And reintroduce myself to my children. The sun does not stop coming up every day and they keep on getting older every day."

At the end of season two the Byrde family struggled to make their latest venture successful in a bid to keep the Mexican cartel off their backs.

Marty and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) had launched a brand new casino in a bid to make money for the cartel.

The last scene of season two, saw the family posing for a group photo in front of their new paddle boat casino.

However, while they were at the casino opening, local mobster Frank Cosgrave blew up their offices, which means there could be a lot more friction with the mafia as well as the cartel in season three.

Netflix has also released the official trailer for the highly anticipated second series of Making A Murderer.

The series is promising fans 10 episodes of twists and turns in the cases of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey, who were both convicted of the murder of Theresa Halbach in 2005. The original series had viewers gripped from the get go.

Filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos are providing viewers with 'an in-depth look at the high-stakes post-conviction process, exploring the emotional toll the process takes on all involved'.

The second season will centre on Avery's post-conviction lawyer, Kathleen Zellner, trying to win his case.
